Microsoft beginning today is suspending the mainstream support period for operating system Windows Vista, during which all the users received free product updates. A day earlier the company also stopped the support for Office 2007, Digit reports. Form now onwards users of these products will be able to get only free updates that address serious issues related to security of applications. Microsoft may release other updates, but they will be available only for companies entering into paid support contractSuch an extended period of full support for Windows Vista will come to an end in 2017. Vista operating system was launched in late 2007. Vista stood nowhere close to Windows XP so far as popularity is concerned. According to statistics website StatCounter, Windows Vista accounted for roughly 9.1% of the operating system market in March 2012.
