Google Inc. has closed its communication service Google Wave, designed to communicate and exchange files in real time with the help of the browser. Google Wave was launched in May 2009, and its open registration kicked off only a year later - in May 2010. However, in August 2010 the company announced the termination of the development of the service and recommended users to export individual data from it until April 30, 2012. The reason of closing the service was its insufficient popularity among users. According to Korrespondent.net, when creating the service Wave, Google pinned its great hopes on it, planning that it will be able to replace the e-mail and instant messengers. The peculiarity of the service was that the users could share files in real time without leaving the browser window where Google Wave was open. At the same time after the announcement of the closure of the service, Google provided free access to the source code of key components of the Wave, which enables third party developers to create a similar service.
