Japan’s Sony Corporation has introduced high-performance flash cards of new generation XQD – models QD-S64 and QD-S32 with a capacity of 64 GB and 32 GB respectively. XQD drives are developed as the successor to CompactFlash cards, and mainly for use in high resolution digital cameras and camcorders. The system uses a high speed PCI express data interface. The new format cards feature high reliability and durability. The size of storage is 38.5 × 29.6 ×3.8 mm. QD-S64 and QD-S32 models provide a record speed of reading and writing, which reaches 168 MB / s. First of all, drives are designed for high-resolution cameras and HD camcorders. The models will go on sale on July 11. They will be priced at $ 750 and $ 500 respectively.
