Microsoft Corp. CEO Steve Ballmer unveiled the new version of Microsoft Office package at the press conference held on July 16 in San Francisco. The main feature of the new generation programs will be the integration with the “cloud” service Microsoft SkyDrive. All user-created documents, as well as personal settings will be stored in the “cloud” automatically, which will provide access to them from any device connected to the Internet. Besides that, the new Office provides a simplified operating mode at the touch computers and tablets, as well as tight integration with social services. In particular, the Office will be integrated with Internet telephony service Skype, and will feature People Card, which allows integration of contacts from Facebook and LinkedIn in office applications. The design of the new Microsoft Office is developed in accordance with the design of Windows 8, the sale of which is scheduled for October 2012. In addition to the new operating system, the next version of Office will also be compatible with Windows 7. A trial version of the new Office suite can be downloaded at Microsoft’s website. As expected, full version of the new Microsotf Office will be available in early 2013. The package price is not set yet.
