Windows 7 is now the world’s most popular desktop operating system, according to the August report from Net Applications. Statistics reveal that Microsoft's latest OS holds a 42.76% share of the global market. Windows 7 has finally surpassed by his popularity, "big sister" Windows XP, which has a dominant position on the market for eleven years with 42.5% signs. Windows Vista sits at third place with a 6.15% market share, followed by Mac OS X 10.7 and Mac OS X 10.6 with 2.45% and 2.38%, respectively. Net Applications calculations differ from those of other large service statistics StatCounter, which puts Windows 7 on top of other operating systems for nearly a year. According to StatCounter, in June of this year, the share of Windows 7 in the world market exceeds 50%. The final version of Windows 7 has appeared in October 2009. Over the three years of the "seven" Microsoft has sold over 600 million copies of operating systems.
